In the vibrant city of Ludhiana, Punjab, where culture and progress walk hand in hand, a young leader has emerged as a symbol of hope, transformation, and empowerment. Gauravdeep Singh is not just a name—he is a movement. A youth leader, philanthropist, and motivational speaker, Gauravdeep has dedicated his life to a cause greater than himself: awakening the potential of India’s youth and leading them toward a path of awareness, leadership, and positive change.
Today, he is widely regarded as the founder and force behind the highly respected NGO, ‘Initiators of Change’—an organization that began as a dream shared by four young individuals and grew into a thriving community of thousands united for social good.
A Teenage Realization that Sparked a Revolution
Gauravdeep’s journey is unique because it began with a sharp realization at an age when most teenagers are still discovering themselves. At just 14 years old, he recognized a troubling pattern: youth were being exploited and manipulated by political organizations to serve as crowds—mere numbers rather than empowered individuals with voices and choices.
This insight hit hard. But instead of feeling helpless, Gauravdeep made a decision that would define his future. He began working with various social and political organizations to understand the system from within. Those early years were filled with both learning and disillusionment. But they also shaped the mission he would later pursue with fierce determination.
The Birth of ‘Initiators of Change’
By the time he turned 18, Gauravdeep had seen enough to realize that superficial involvement wouldn’t suffice. It was time to build something new—an organization that would work with the youth, not just use them. Along with his sister Harshleen Kaur and close friends Japjeet Kaur and Sifti Kaur, he launched ‘Initiators of Change’ in 2015.

What began as a four-member initiative quickly gained momentum. Their belief was simple yet powerful: ignite the fire within young minds and the magic will follow. And follow it did. In just three years, the organization grew into a powerful youth-driven movement with more than 2,000 active volunteers spread across North India. They took on real issues—youth voter awareness, leadership development, and protection of youth rights—with energy, creativity, and commitment.
One of their most iconic campaigns was “I Vote I Lead,” which mobilized more than 35,000 young people to register as voters within three months. The success of this campaign was celebrated nationally, putting Gauravdeep and his team in the spotlight as true changemakers.
Pride in Roots and Sikh Youth Empowerment
Gauravdeep’s drive for change is also deeply rooted in his cultural identity. Coming from a family of respected Sikh scholars, he has always felt a strong connection to his heritage. He believes that empowering the Sikh youth is not just about progress, but about preserving the wisdom, strength, and values of his ancestors.
To this end, he has led and organized several events to uplift the Sikh youth, instilling pride in their identity and promoting community service. His work in this area earned him the prestigious Sikh Youth Icon award twice—once in 2018 by Gurmat Missionary College, Ropar, and again in 2019 by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle. These awards stand as recognition of his unwavering dedication to preserving cultural values while pushing for modern progress.
The Power of Struggle: From Hardship to Motivation
While his achievements are inspiring, the path to them was far from easy. Gauravdeep comes from a humble background and has faced severe financial challenges throughout his journey. He speaks openly about his struggles—moments of doubt, near-collapse, and personal sacrifices. But he never allowed those challenges to defeat him. Instead, they became the very stories he now shares as a motivational speaker across colleges and universities.
His sessions are not just speeches—they are experiences. Through his raw honesty and uplifting energy, he connects deeply with young people. He speaks their language. He understands their battles. And most importantly, he shows them that setbacks are just setups for comebacks.
In 2014, he was selected to be part of his city’s delegation to meet the then President of India, Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, and the beloved former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. That moment, as he recalls, was life-changing—both humbling and deeply motivating. It cemented his belief that he was on the right path.
On the Frontlines During India’s Toughest Times
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, many stayed indoors. But Gauravdeep and his team stepped out—day and night—working tirelessly on the ground to help those in need. From food distribution to healthcare assistance and emergency support, the organization became a lifeline for many during lockdown.
During the farmers’ protests as well, he was present at ground zero, actively supporting and serving protestors. His humility, courage, and sense of duty made a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Gauravdeep doesn’t believe in performative activism. For him, leadership means being where people need you the most—even if it means personal risk or sacrifice.
A Vision that Keeps Growing
Today, as the world recognizes his work and social media celebrates his inspiring journey (including a video by Facebook HQ that captured his impact), Gauravdeep remains grounded and focused. His vision is expansive—he wants to see Initiators of Change grow across India, reaching youth in every corner of the country.
He believes India’s future lies in its young people. Not just those with privileges, but those who often go unnoticed. His mission is to awaken them all—to leadership, awareness, confidence, and action. The goal is not to create followers but leaders—young minds who take ownership of their community, their country, and their future.
A Leader for the Times
In an era where cynicism often overshadows hope, Gauravdeep Singh stands tall as a symbol of what’s possible when one dares to believe in change. His journey—from being a teenager who questioned the system to becoming a national youth icon—is proof that passion, purpose, and perseverance can indeed move mountains.
He is not here to impress. He is here to empower. And as thousands of young people continue to follow in his footsteps, one thing is clear: the change has only just begun.
Gauravdeep Singh is not just the founder of an NGO. He is the founder of a movement—a movement where the youth lead not just with fire in their hearts but with purpose in their actions.
