In the vibrant town of Langley, Slough, lives a man whose story is as flavorful as his food. Meet Jasmeet Singh — a passionate artist who swapped his sketchpad for skillets and ended up winning the hearts of millions across the United Kingdom as a semi-finalist in MasterChef UK 2020. While he continues to thrive in the world of design, it is his culinary journey that has truly made his name sparkle across households.
A Design Pro with a Creative Palate
Before making his mark in the culinary world, Jasmeet had already built an impressive career as a professional graphic designer. Armed with a degree in Arts and Design from the renowned London College of Communication, he began his journey in advertising and creative marketing. His artistic flair and strategic vision led him to work at Synergy Vision, a respected healthcare communications agency, where he has spent over 15 years crafting campaigns, visuals, and creative strategies.
Design was not just a profession but a language for Jasmeet. His journey saw him climb the creative ladder quickly, ultimately becoming a senior creative designer. Yet, behind the scenes of this successful design career, a deeper passion simmered — one that involved flavours, textures, and aromas rather than pixels and paper.
Cooking: A Passion that Couldn’t Be Contained
While most professionals unwind after work, Jasmeet found his relaxation in the kitchen. He began hosting elaborate dinner parties for friends and family — infusing his natural creativity into every dish. His cooking wasn’t just about taste; it was about storytelling, just like his design work. Every plate he presented was a canvas, every ingredient a brushstroke.
But it wasn’t Jasmeet who dreamt of reality TV glory — it was his wife. For years, she noticed the brilliance in his dishes and persistently nudged him to apply to MasterChef UK. In 2020, he finally gave in. A leap of faith led to an unforgettable ride.

Out of 6,000, One Jasmeet
Over 6,000 hopefuls applied for MasterChef UK 2020, and only 60 were chosen. Jasmeet Singh was among the select few — a home cook with no professional experience but a burning desire to create.
What followed was a whirlwind of challenges, creativity, and character. Jasmeet didn’t just keep up with the others — he shined. His creativity stood out early on, especially when he presented three different aubergine dishes, stunning the judges with his originality, taste, and flair. He had never cooked in a professional kitchen before, yet he handled every challenge with grace and grit.
From preparing meals for previous contestants and celebrity critics to cooking aboard the HMS Diamond for 120 naval officers, Jasmeet embraced it all. He not only reached the knockout week but was ranked in the Top 7 — making him one of the top semi-finalists of the season.
Winning Hearts Beyond the Show
Jasmeet didn’t win the MasterChef title, but he won something even more powerful — the hearts and admiration of a nation. Since the show, he has been flooded with messages of love, support, and inspiration. His humble beginnings, warm personality, and stunning dishes created a connection that no trophy can match.
“I was truly overwhelmed by the love I received after leaving the show,” Jasmeet shared. “To know that people resonated with my story, my journey, and my food — that’s the real win.”
Balancing Design and Dreams
Today, Jasmeet continues to work at Synergy Vision, seamlessly balancing his career in design while nurturing his culinary ambitions. He sees both roles as complementary. Design helps him visualise his dishes, while cooking gives him the joy of creating something that connects directly with people on an emotional level.
“Whether I’m working on a marketing campaign or plating a dish, it’s all about impact. I want to make people feel something,” he explains.
With the platform MasterChef gave him, Jasmeet now dreams of upgrading his cooking skills, experimenting with new cuisines, and possibly one day launching something of his own in the food world.
A Story of Creativity, Courage, and Curry
Jasmeet’s journey from graphic boards to gourmet plates is proof that it’s never too late to follow your passion. In a world where people often settle into one career path, his story reminds us of the possibilities that await when we dare to mix things up — quite literally.
Whether it’s his meticulous designs at Synergy Vision or his mouth-watering creations in the kitchen, Jasmeet Singh is a living example of what happens when creativity is allowed to flourish without limits.
And as for his fans? They can’t wait to see what’s next on his plate.
