In a world where dreams are often crushed under the weight of failure and setbacks, Gursharon Kaur, better known as @strong_like_g, is living proof that resilience is the strongest weapon of all. A Canadian-born Sikh woman who wears many hats — a professional lawyer by day and a fierce Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter by passion — Gursharon’s journey is a glowing tribute to courage, hard work, and unshakeable faith in oneself.
Born and raised in Canada, Gursharon wasn’t handed anything on a silver platter. She had to fight for every inch of her success — quite literally. Sharp-minded since childhood, she always had a spark that set her apart. But it wasn’t until about six years ago that her journey into martial arts truly began, with a bold decision to dive into Jiu Jitsu. That first step would not only shape her athletic journey but would also define her strength of character.
What began as a curious interest soon turned into an all-consuming passion. Learning Jiu Jitsu was no easy feat, especially for someone juggling the demanding life of law school and early professional commitments. The pressure, the bruises, the mental strain — it was all there. But so was Gursharon’s unwavering drive to improve, to master every move, to transform herself not just into a fighter — but into a warrior.
Eventually, she transitioned into Taekwondo and began training with relentless determination. Every punch, every fall, every injury came with its own lesson. Despite facing physical injuries, emotional lows, and the type of exhaustion that can wear down even the toughest spirit, she never quit. Instead, she came back stronger each time — a habit that would come to define her journey.

And then, the big moment arrived — Gursharon won her first black belt in Taekwondo. It wasn’t just a belt. It was the reward of every tear, every sacrifice, every moment of self-doubt she had conquered. From there, the doors of success swung wide open. She began to win more fights, each one a testament to her progress and fierce perseverance.
One of her proudest achievements to date? Winning the People’s Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu — a massive milestone, especially considering she’s the only Sikh female to have ever done so. This honor placed her in a league of her own and made her a role model not just for the Sikh community but for women across the world chasing dreams in male-dominated arenas.
But success, as always, is never a straight line. Just when her momentum was at its peak, life threw another challenge at her — an ACL injury that forced her out of competition and into rehabilitation. For many, it would have been a devastating setback. But for Gursharon, it became a new training ground — not just for the body, but for the mind. She embraced the process with the same dedication she brought to every training session and every fight. While she couldn’t play last year, she used the time to plan her comeback with even more focus and fire.
Now back on her feet and training harder than ever, Gursharon is laser-focused on her next mission: earning her black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With countless hours of practice, strength-building, and strategic training, she’s preparing to compete at the highest level possible — a level where only the most disciplined and daring make their mark.
And she’s not just stopping at personal growth. Gursharon has also earned multiple awards and recognitions, each symbolizing her outstanding technique, discipline, and performance. She is an icon in the making — a blend of brains, bravery, and boundless energy.
Her story goes far beyond medals and belts. It’s about a woman who rose every time she fell. It’s about embracing struggle and turning it into strength. It’s about carrying the spirit of Sikhi into spaces where it’s rarely seen and making it shine bright.
For all her hard work, persistence, and the pride she brings to the community, we salute Gursharon Kaur. May she continue to rise, fight, and inspire every soul who dares to dream big. Through her spirit, strength, and story — one Sikh shines, and through her, Sikhi shines brighter.
We wish her success, strength, and unmatched glory in all her future tournaments. May her journey inspire thousands and echo across every corner of the globe.
